How it affects SUNY students
Rational Tuition:
- Increase tuition incrementally up to an annual cap of two and one half times the five-year rolling average of the Higher Education Price Index (HEPI).
- Makes it easier for students and families to anticipate and plan for the complete cost of attendance over the course of a degree program.
- Will help to establish multi-year plans to address campus goals and invest in new faculty hires and academic quality initiatives
Deferential Tuition:
- For programs and campuses to enhance academic quality
- Currently there would not be tuition assistance to make up for any increases
- Currently there is no cap on the amount increased

- Implement a fair, equitable and responsible tuition policy.
- Based on the recommendations of the college presidents.
- Adopt out of state enrollment maximum percentage limitations.
